Biography: Ramazi O. Datiashvili, MD, PhD is a world recognized Plastic and Reconstructive surgeon. He has had an extremely successful career in Russia. After graduation from The First Moscow Medical Institute in 1972 and completion of his Fellowship in General and Vascular Surgery at the National Research Center of Surgery in 1974, he quickly progressed to become a Chief of the Microsurgical Department at age 28 at the Moscow City Hospital #51. He earned his PhD degree in 1978. In 1981 he continued his outstanding academic and surgical career at the National Surgical Center in Moscow – a leading surgical institution in Russia. Dr. Datiashvili became one of the world leading experts in Microsurgery and was a true celebrity in Russia for his famous surgeries in reattachment of amputated limbs. In 1988 he earned a Degree “Doctor of Medical Sciences” – the highest scientific degree in Russia (equivalent to Professorship in the US).
In 1991 Dr. Datiashvili immigrated to the US. Here he completed a General Surgery Residency at the Mount Sinai Medical School in New York and then Plastic Surgery Residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry/New Jersey Medical School.
Now Dr. Datiashvili continues his successful career as a Professor in the Division of Plastic Surgery, Department of Surgery at Rutgers University/New Jersey Medical School.
Dr. Datiashvili is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is an active Member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery, and International Confederation for Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, and other surgical societies.
Dr. Datiashvili is an author of more 100 publications, including textbooks and articles in the world leading journals. He received many awards and patents for his work.
